Assessment of the grant writing situation: Anica will send SAMI grant info to Dana, who can write it up and give to Kyle to submit Kyle will work on the other grant that he found Mere will follow up with LOI to LASA Anica will contact Humanities Inst. regarding the mini grant Anica will email Mark Wilson (re: discretionary funds) and Joel Howell
Money has been coming in from fundraising letters. Anica just sent a few more and Meredith will also send some. We included the separate address for donations to be made directly to the film.
Random Stuff: Yoni talked to Sergio re: indigenous community – there may be hostels and camping nearby the community. Or maybe we can do a homestay
Anica will find out if SAE has camping gear?
Yoni saw a film that was 2/3 B-role and 1/3 people’s stories. He said they pulled it off well with only a moderate amount of talking/interviews.
Recap of possible topics now on the table for our triptych: • Indigenous healers • Jaime Guevara (musician) • Flower workers • Retirees • Plastic surgery – Meredith could shoot in Loja • “Meds” being sold on buses • Personal free clinic story
Tentative (draft) Itinerary: Late June Meet with Sergio Attend conference? http://www.yachana.org/ecuatorianistas/encuentro/encuentro.html Do preliminary/background interviews Meredith may film in Loja (about plastic surgery)
July First week - follow up with all contacts worth pursuing Second week - film extended interviews (day in life) Third week – travel to indigenous community Week four - B role and miscellaneous/unfinished business
Yoni will contact Ann Miles – worked in Cuenca forever! Mere will email Fernando Ortega – urban medicine – let him know what stories we are pursuing and if he has any ideas; anyone interesting we should talk to; looking for personal narratives rather than expert opinions
